The Abbott-Detroit motorcars were built in Detroit, first by the Abbott Motor Car Co from 1909-1915. The Abbott-Detroit was a conventional car using Herschell-Spillman 8 cylinder and the famous Continental 4 and 6 cylinder engines.
In 1916 the Consolidated Car Co of Detroit took over the operation, which had grown to an output of 15-20 units per day.
Then in 1916 the Abbott Corp moved to Cleveland, and expanded operations. There, they began building a car simply known as the Abbott. Unfortunately the move to Ohio proved fatal for the young company and in April 1918, were declared bankrupt.
